A no-fuss slow cooker dinner made with frozen meatballs, jarred marinara sauce, spaghetti, and simple seasonings, cooked to tender perfection in about 3.5 hours.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 32 oz frozen meatballs
  • 48 oz marinara sauce (2 jars of 24 oz each)
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon garlic puree (or 1–2 fresh garlic cloves, minced)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 oz uncooked spaghetti noodles (broken into thirds)
  • Optional: freshly grated Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Place the frozen meatballs into the crock pot.
  2. Pour the marinara sauce over the meatballs.
  3. Add the water, Italian seasoning, garlic puree (or minced garlic), salt, and black pepper to the pot.
  4. Gently stir to combine.
  5. Cover and cook on LOW for 2 hours.
  6. Break the uncooked spaghetti into thirds and add them to the pot, stirring so most noodles are coated and settle around the meatballs.
  7. Cover and cook on LOW for another 1 to 1½ hours, stirring every 20–30 minutes to prevent noodles from sticking and ensure even cooking.
  8. When the spaghetti is tender, stir the pot, taste, and adjust seasoning as needed.

Notes

Breaking the spaghetti into thirds before adding helps them fit and cook evenly., Stirring every 20 to 30 minutes during the last hour prevents noodles from clumping and ensures even sauce coating., If sauce thickens too much, add water a tablespoon at a time; if too thin, remove lid and cook on LOW to thicken., Frozen pre-cooked meatballs work best for timing and safety; fresh or raw meatballs require longer cooking for safety (165°F/74°C for poultry, 160°F/71°C for beef/pork)., Do not fill the crock pot to the top; leave space for pasta expansion and stirring., Can swap meatballs for turkey, chicken, beef, or plant-based options; can substitute marinara with other sauces like vodka or arrabbiata., Pasta shapes like penne or ziti can be used but may require adjustment in cooking time., Add fresh vegetables (spinach, mushrooms, bell peppers) during the last 30-45 minutes for extra nutrition and texture., Stir in shredded mozzarella or cream before serving for richness., Refrigerate leftovers 3-4 days in airtight container; freeze sauce and meatballs separately from pasta for 2-3 months., Reheat gently with splash of water or sauce on stove or microwave., Can prep ingredients (except pasta) a day ahead and refrigerate before cooking.
